Introduction
For this project we were given a short story about a murder and told to solve it. Along with the the story we were given many different pieces of evidence to be able to figure out which one of the suspects actually was the murderer. Once we had figured out all of the evidence we put it into a slideshow to present who we believed was the killer.
Content
Karyotype:
A karyotype is a way you can look at the sequence of chromosomes in case there's something wrong
Genetics Disease:
A disease caused by an error in your DNA
Pedigrees:
A pedigrees is a way to look at one's biological family history in order to see what traits get passed down
Mutation:
A change in the DNA
Punnett Squares:
A tool that helps to show all possible allelic combinations of genes in a cross of parents with known genotypes in order to predict the probability of their offspring possessing certain sets of alleles.
Genetic Engineering:
Using technology to alter an organism's genome in order to benefit the individual and/or the human race
Forensic Science:
The use of scientific experimentation to provide evidence analysis for a crime investigation

Reflection
Overall this project turned out successful. I learned about pedigrees and how to use them. We used them to solve the crime and to see how everyone in the story was related. I also learned about genetic diseases and how they are passed down. One of the pieces of evidence had to do with having genetic diseases influencing motives. I think we could have done a better job at organizing our work. We struggled with keeping our evidence together. We also could have done better job with explanation. I feel like we could have explained our evidence in our presentation in a better way. In the end I learned a lot and this project was really fun!
